Navigating FIDO Security Keys into the Future
In 2009, our CEO, Dr. Stephen Oh PhD founded a company in Korea called eWBM. He had a vision to create a new market with innovative technologies for securing the world with hardware based security solutions. Dr. Oh and his team of engineers developed their own custom security MCU (processor chip) for use in FIDO security keys and IoT products. It was only after he developed his own biometric security key that he realized the desperate need for these products in a world that was moving online at an incredible pace, matched only by cyber criminals ability to hack account passwords and gain access to organizations precious data via account takeovers, man in the middle attacks, and “phishing”. Dr. Oh realized that with the broadly distributed focus of eWBM, he would need to spin off the security key team from eWBM into a new company, with a team of executives solely focused on bringing advanced FIDO2 security solutions to the world. TrustKey Solutions was born!
TrustKey Solutions is headquartered in Richardson, TX, and was co-founded by our CEO, Dr. Oh and our executive team. Our mission is a simple one:

Chief Executive Officer
Stephen Oh is the founder and CEO of eWBM, a fabless semiconductor company specialized in secure MCU (Microprocessor). eWBM’s secure MS500 is used for a variety of IoT and security applications including FIDO2 external authenticator, LoRa module, and Industrial IoT devices. Before founding eWBM in 2009, he was a vice president of Samsung Electronics, SLSI Business Unit, where his responsibility is AP (Application Processor) development and business. He was also involved with Gigabit Ethernet Standard (IEEE802.3ab) and ADSL standard (T1.413) while he was with National Semiconductor and Texas Instruments. He received his PhD/MSEE/BSEE from Purdue University.
Chief Strategy Officer
Mike Kwon is a wireless industry veteran, who has extensive knowledge and experience on building a company from the ground up to IPO and the ability to execute all the task of running a business.
From 1998 to 2000, Mr. Kwon served as Vice President of Sales at Neopoint Inc., a developer and manufacturer of Wireless Application Protocol-Enabled handsets. Mr. Kwon was also the founder of Digital Line, Inc., a reseller of analog wireless phones where he served as Chief Executive Officer from 1996 to 1998.
Mike has resided in the US for over 40 years and founded Axesstel Inc.in California on July, 2000. On August 2002, Axesstel California officially became a wholly owned subsidiary of Axesstel Inc., (Nevada Corp.) and Mr. Kwon was appointed Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board.
During his time at Axesstel, Mr. Kwon successfully secured numerous contracts that enabled the company to gain over $10 million in revenue in just the first year, and grew $90 to $100 million in revenue until his resignation. He has many international investment partners and customers who are supported by highly successful corporations. In 2002, Mr. Kwon catapulted the company into a merger with Miracom which allowed them to become an OTC company. Mr. Kwon continued to take the company further by meeting the requirements of qualifying on the American Stock Exchange. As of March 2004, Axesstel started trading on the American Stock Exchange until 2009.
Mike Kwon also founded Xcellent Wireless Co.,Ltd. on Jan.2011 and G-telcomm Inc,in South Korea on July.2008. After resignation of Axesstel Inc. After the establishment of Gtelcomm, he took over Sinerteck Corp. Until early 2019, Mike Kwon held a senior advisory position for D-Link Corp. on wireless BU, handling various new opportunities, presentations, and business relationship engagements. Mike Kwon also served as Vice President and Senior Advisor for I.S.T., a company that bid out to be 4th Mobile 5G carrier in Korea. He supported president, Dr. Yang S T, ex-minister of telecommunication in Korea. I.S.T. was a company that was set to bid on their license spectrum for the 5G new carrier in Korea and had secured $1.5 Billion US dollar investment commitment through Dr. Yang’s connections in the telecom industry. Overall, Mr. Kwon has over 30 years experience in the communications field. Studied at Rutgers University (BA) Business Administration.
Chief Security Officer
Witali Bartsch has been working for over a decade in various applied research disciplines, e.g. embedded security, secure software development, design and implementation of security architectures and cryptographic protocols. As a member of the Security Architecture Council of a leading globally operating financial institution he has been reviewing numerous security solutions for many years specialising in hardware-based cryptography and microcontroller security.
As a founder of the R&D oriented IoT security brand POINTBLANK SECURITY he defines and follows the holistic and practical approach of “symbiotic security” towards an infrastructure-grade Ultra-Low Power IoT security architecture blueprint in close cooperation and technological partnership with eWBM.
Dr. Bartsch together with Dr. Oh and a team of scientists and engineers is constantly pushing the limits of architectural security by bridging the gaps in today’s Industry 4.0 solutions through innovation of security by design, thinking outside the box and by bringing new ideas to the table of standardisation bodies such as FIDO IoT Technical Working Group. Witali graduated as MS EE/IT/ITS and holds a PhD in industrial engineering and international management.
VP of Product Development
Andrew Jun is a veteran in the software industry. He has more than 25 years of experience bringing innovative solutions to market that address key challenges in software and technology. Working on different software solutions and in different environments made him realize the security holes posed by passwords. No matter how well the system is built and how great the user experience, one area that is in glaring need of security and better user experience is the user login process. Security holes caused by reused passwords across different systems - personal and business - create a frustrating and annoying experience of trying to remember too many passwords. He is passionate about providing security and the best user experience through security keys.
Prior to joining TrustKey, Andrew led software development and product management at various healthcare comopanies. Prior to the healthcare industry, he worked at various start-ups and led software development efforts in building systems to enhance workflow and efficiency in busineesses. He holds BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University.

From the FIDO alliance site: The FIDO Alliance is an open industry association with a focused mission: authentication standards to help reduce the world’s over-reliance on passwords.
Passwords endure despite the growing consensus their use needs to be reduced, if not replaced. But even though effective PKI and strong authentication solutions have existed for years, barriers to widespread adoption persist. Consumers don’t like the user experience, and online service providers don’t want the cost and complexity of developing and provisioning their own dedicated solutions.
The FIDO Alliance is working to change the nature of authentication with open standards that are more secure than passwords and SMS OTPs, simpler for consumers to use, and easier for service providers to deploy and manage. The FIDO Alliance works to fulfill its mission by:
- Developing technical specifications that define an open, scalable, interoperable set of mechanisms that reduce the reliance on passwords to authenticate users
- Operating industry certification programs to help ensure successful worldwide adoption of the specifications
- Submitting mature technical specification(s) to recognized standards development organization(s) for formal standardization
